American Red Cross Organizational Effectiveness Consultant (virtual work location) in Washington, District Of Columbia

Job Description:

Candidate will work remotely from their home office; can be based in any US city. Prefer US Central and East Coast.

The Organizational Effectiveness Consultant will partner with Talent and Organizational Development (TOD) team members, other Human Resources colleagues and stakeholder clients in driving the design, development and implementation of organizational effectiveness services and programs (e.g., performance management, organizational design, talent and succession planning, change management, engagement) that best assess and leverage talent capabilities at the individual, team and organizational levels. Reporting to the Director of Organizational Effectiveness, the Consultant works to enable Human Resource Business Partners (HRBPs) and client stakeholders to increase business performance and manage through significant change.


  • Executes the overall strategy and roadmap to build organizational effectiveness, leveraging both new and existing platforms around performance, talent planning, engagement, and change management.

  • Reviews and provides recommendations to maintain or continuously improve existing TOD services and programs to ensure a close connection to changing business goals and to increase results with very little wasted effort.

  • Partner with team members and HR colleagues on issues related to organizational effectiveness to improve performance and apply insights gained from organizational data, i.e., engagement surveys, to develop and recommend solutions and talent strategies

  • Identify change management activities to manage the people-side of change to realize successful outcomes, e.g., perform stakeholder analysis, develop sponsorship roadmaps, create communication plans, navigate resistance.

  • Facilitate talent and succession planning processes, e.g., performance management, succession planning, retention strategies.

  • Support employee engagement activities, e.g., survey administration, data analysis, action planning, executing employee engagement strategies.

  • Facilitate meetings and training as requested


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organization Development, or similar discipline preferred.

  • Preferred: Master's degree in organizational development, industrial/organizational psychology, business, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years related work experience in talent management, succession planning, change management, employee engagement, organization development, or HR.

  • Strong background working with technology, using Microsoft products.

  • Ability to partner effectively with others and manage complex projects to achieve desired results.

  • Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, strong time management skills

  • Projects professionalism and appropriate detail through communication skills: verbally, on paper, in emails, and in presentations.

  • Ability to operate independently with low supervision, while practicing high collaboration with colleagues.

  • Listens well and seeks clarification with an ability to learn and assimilate information quickly.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, effectively analyze problems, and recommend appropriate solutions.

  • Follows policies and procedures, maintains confidentiality and works with integrity and ethics.

  • Candidate will work remotely from their home office; can be based in any US city. Prefer US Central and East Coast.

  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.
