American Red Cross Lead RN Evaluator- Part Time in Sacramento, California
•Supervises testing personnel consisting of Nurse Evaluators and Proctors, providing new hire orientation, on-the-job training, professional development performance management and mentoring in their assigned areas/state(s). Provides support with required technology and platforms such as Red Cross email & cell phone, Skedulo, ZipGrade and Springboard. Typically has 15 to 25 direct reports.• Responsible for all aspects of recruiting and retaining Nurse Evaluators and Proctors within the approved program area FTE budget to accommodate testing volume.• Conducts annual audits of testing personnel ensuring examination security and interrater reliability. Promptly identifies and addresses Nurse Evaluator or Proctor deficiencies through Performance Management Plans by setting goals and deadlines for improvement. Maintains comprehensive audit files.• Works with Program Manager to acquire regional testing sites and conducts initial approval inspection of in-facility testing sites. Inspects locations to ensure suitability and that the minimal testing site requirements are met.• Conducts audits of approved regional testing sites at a minimum of once a year or as the state requires. Maintains thorough files for each test site.• Attends grievance committee biweekly meetings and perform committee duties if applicable. Collaboratively works with Program Manager to investigate candidate grievances until final resolution is determined if applicable• Conducts testing as needed to meet scheduling demand to cover testing personnel absences or to audit a test site.• Coordinates and leads in test development workshops and annual Nurse Evaluator trainings as needed.• Maintains records of Nurse Evaluator nursing license verification to ensure active status without restriction or probation.• Oversees testing facilities ensuring effective and efficient use of supplies and materials.• Coordinates maintenance and repairs of testing equipment when needed.• Provides testing for individuals requesting special accommodations as needed• Investigates score discrepancies with Nurse Evaluators and testing candidates to ensure test validity and works with Program Manager on resolution if applicable.• Approves weekly timesheets for Nurse Evaluators and Proctors.• Processes T-card transactions and approves travel mileage expense in Concur for testing personnel.• Engages in regular effective communication with Program Manager to assist in the development and maintenance of quality and compliance across the state programs, making staffing and operational recommendations in effort to meet and exceed program area business goals.• Attend on-site meetings with state agencies as needed.• Performs other duties as may be assigned.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.• Maintain a current active license without restriction or probation as a Registered Nurse in the state(s) where evaluating occurs. Multistate licensure where allowed by state law.• Three years' experience as a Registered Nurse with a minimum one years' experience in providing care for the elderly or chronically ill of any age.• Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience required.• Knowledge of federal and state requirements governing Certified Nurse Assistant Testing.• Knowledge of the state requirements related to documentation and report preparation of the program.• Ability to represent the American Red Cross in a professional manner.• Professional written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.• Proficiency in a variety of computer platforms including Skedulo, ZipGrade, Springboard, Outlook and other Microsoft Office programs.• Superior organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.• Ability to travel 30-40% of the time to various testing locations usually within 250 miles round trip.• Ability to work with diverse populations including CEP team members and testing candidates with a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.Essential Functions/Physical Requirements: The duties above indicate the essential functions of the position. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. May be required to travel to sites throughout the Red Cross organization. Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations. May require the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) medium to heavy weights up to 50 pounds and transfer objects up to 100 pounds with assistance. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operation equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential. May include ability to stoop or sit for long periods of time driving a vehicle and working or working under challenging conditions.
